Deep amber golden with tight off white head with some lacing and thin legs. Caramel muffins, toasty pecans and bourbon, vanilla...yum. Sticky/creamy mouth feel. Really bourbony sweet...almost like candy...caramel biscuit flavor with a ton of sweetness. Wow...glad to try this one, but IMHO, Fred and fftw top this. after4ever (2762), Brier, Washington, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 30, 2009 Poured by Alan at HOTD. Appearance was golden amber. The nose was big on bourbon, also some sweet malts mixed in. Taste was similar to smell, delicious bourbon was very welcomed. Also hints of that sweet malt mixed with vanilla and oak. Wonderful beer, just needs some aging. Thanks again Alan! ruffhauser (28), Seattle, Washington, USA

1 year in bourbon barrels. Slightly darker than usual. Slightly sour, with big vanilla, bourbon, oak. Fabulously smooth and fragrant. A big beer that has taken on the bourbon characteristics very well. Well done!

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 11, 2009 On tap at the brewery! Alan had the regular wood Fred and this. Heavy bourbon aroma. Not as dark as expected but a solid caramel brown. Heavy bourbon flavor with a touch of Fred sweetness. Very smooth enjoyable version of Fred. The bourbon helps balance out the sweet malt Flavors of the Fred. Fairly smooth as is the case with all of the Hair of the Dog beers. The biggest thing about this beer is the bourbon aroma and flavor. Not trying to hide the bourbon in the least. glkaiser (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jul 27, 2009 Multiple samples at the OBF open house at HOTD. Hazy amber; lighter in color than the regular fred from the wood. Tons of oak, vanilla and nutty bourbon mix with the caramel sweetness and light dark fruit from the base beer. Incredibly drinkable, with the bourbon being forward, but not overwhelming. ABV is very hidden. Alan rocks. Look for this in bottles next year.
