Commercial Description:
What does it mean? Yes, what indeed does it all mean. Meaning of course is elusive and illusive. It can’t or shouldn’t be found on the bottle. Should it? Yet what if it was? Would you begin to look for pearls of wisdom or life direction on a beer label.Perhaps it has been there all along.Since meaning is a mear illusion, perhaps we shouldn’t let it have any influence on our destiny. This particular beer refused to succummb to the illusion of meaning or allow capricious parameters to have any influence on its own fermented fate. Are you even asking the right question? Are you feeling frustrated in the emptyness? If so that could be because craig got to this beer before you, and thus theres a reason for that emptyness. Its empty. And if so perhaps there indeed is not any meaning for you here after all. Style over Substance , or Substance over the scriptures of Style? The latter thank you very much. Twice.

11.2oz bottle served in a snifter. Dark mahogany brown pour with a thin head of loose, large tan bubbles that lingered around for a while. Spotty lacing. The aroma consisted of chocolate, burnt caramel, licorice, English hops, and a hint of smoke. The flavor had bittersweet chocolate, rich caramel, mild coffee, burnt wood, and also some underlying notes of pine and citrus. Creamy smooth and full-bodied, softly carbonated. The flavor is all over the map, kind of like a hoppy stout...but it works pretty well. Not bad.

Small brown head, retention is fair, lacing is stringy. Almost black in color though some ruby edging is apparent. Nose of faint licorice and pine, light roast and wood. Med/full body, oily on the palate, chewy and slick. I get the hops though dark malts are moreso, chocolate, light roast, ash and some charred wood, faint coffee notes appear as it warms. Finish is fruity with some raisins and lightly smokey. Interesting but i could,nt down too much of this. Nice effort. Bottle acquired @statelineliquors.

Pours like a stout--beige head, rocky, good chunky lace. Near black in color where no light shines through. Dark molasses aroma--slightly burnt. There’s also an upleasant plastic smell. Borderline earthy. Okay, how does one describe this beer. Similar to a overhopped porter; lots of dark malt, perhaps even some black patent in the background. There’s also ample bittering hop. One can also sense alcohol. Average body and carbonation.

Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival 2009. Almost black reddish brown color. Sweet perfumed and orangey hop aroma with coffeish notes in the background. Sweet flavor with chocolate and orangey hops. Long roasty and orangey finish. Tasty and original, chocolate and orange flavors blend very nicely.

Pours black with brown highlights. Certainly not as viscous as you’d come to expect from a beer of this colour. Nose has some caramel sweetness but overiding citrus hop notes. Palate is low in carb but still not overly full bodied. Mild dark choc & coffee notes dominate the finish. Interesting beer. Perhaps more a heavily american hopped stout? Not too sure where the Belgian characters come into play...id recommend & was pretty enjoyable but you have to wonder about the completely over the top left of center brews.

Tap at Capones. Pours a deep brown with a medium creamy off white head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malts and toffee. Flavor of the same, slightly off sweet maltiness, some lingering hop flavor and bitterness.

From bottle shared with bro Eric and awiseman01. Aroma is sweet and and dark like molasses or brown sugar. Deep deep black with almost no head to speak of. Taste is delicious coffee and more of that brown sugar with more flavors that i cant quite pick out. Coffee lingers for a while. Very nice collaboration.
