Nov 25, 2009 Batch 9396. Pours amber orange, translucent body, fluffy white head. Grassy aroma of pine hops, orange juice, and grapefruit. Ooh, that’s lovely! Smooth blend of pine hops, perfume, and lemon. Quite smooth, minimal carbonation and a buttery feel that’s a perfect complement to the flavor profile. Only a subtle rush of bitter hoppiness. One of the finer IPA’s I’ve experienced. This was my first venture beyond Bell’s stouts, and I’m definitely impressed.

Nov 25, 2009 Great IPA. One that I’m getting to know reasonably well since moving to the midwest. Pretty straightforward, big flavor with lots of booze for a standard IPA. It has some citrus and pine character, but far from overwhelming. Like the Hopslam it’s a bit of a gut bomb but not to the same degree. Highly sessionable, although you may not want to have much to do the next day, as it will break you off. The one I’m drinking now is not the freshest, so the review may not even be giving it a fair shake, but it is excellent nonetheless.

Nov 24, 2009 Bottle courtesy of jdskinns. dark golden color with one of the most beautiful floral hop aromas ive ever whiffed. perfectly balanced malt to hops. Finish lasts on your palate just long enough to entice you to take another sip. Alcohol is well hidden which makes this dangerous @ 7%!
I dont review a lot of beers but felt it a moral imperative to review this.
Worst part is i cant get it in Jersey!

Nov 23, 2009 ( 12oz bottle from batch 8888 (brewed December 11, 2008) and sampled on June 9, 2009) While not super fresh, this was still a really good beer.
Pours slightly opaque rusty orange color, nice 1 finger head that sticks around a decent while, excellent lacing. Smells like caramel malt fading on the back side, some floral hops that have most definitely faded over time. Pretty simple here, nothing too complex but nice. Taste follows the smell, but more hoppy than I expected after 6 months of time on it. It still has a decent amount of bitter that doesn’t linger which for me personally is nice. Reminiscent of an American Barleywine, sweet and malty, bitter hops, and some citrus qualities too. Some bitter tangerine peel or oils. Finishes creamy and perfectly carbonated. Body is just right, but could use just a touch more oiliness and it would be absolutely perfect.

Nov 21, 2009 Pour is golden brown with nice thick white foam. The nose is straight up floral onslaught. Palate is citrus, grass, floral, and a host of other unique flavors. Incredibly smooth.
