| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma has Slottskällans almost chemical "house character" with notes of dried fruit, minerals and light chocolate. Flavour is depper and more intense with fruity dark chocolate, light roasted coffe and some grassy hops in the somewhat dry finish. Ok brittish style imperial stout. sebletitje (1925), Tampa, Florida, USA

pours dark brown, though the beer seemed a little thin in color for a 9% abv imp. stout. Light off-white head.
aroma plenty of good chocolate malts, caramel.
flavor, caramel malts, chocolate, medium carbonation, possibly some light smoke, toffee, light mouthfeel for 9%, gained in caramel as it warmed up, finishes sweet/toffee like, with some dark fruits? ricke (246), Malme, Sweden

330 ml bottle with freshness date om label (Best before week 46 2018). Short descriptions of taste profile and Russian imperial stouts in general, and recommended food pairings on the label.
The pour is dark brown with red hues. The color almost resembles the color of Coca Cola. The head is very small and a bit uneven, and fades away fast leaving almost no lacings.
A very prominent smell of dark chocolate and cocoa is coupled with coffee aromas and notes of dark fruits - mostly plums and blackberries. A distinct, but not overpowering sting of alcohol can be noted in the background. The smell is quite nice with its distinct chocolate character.
The taste basically replicates the smell: Flavors of dark chocolate and cocoa. Strong coffee, almost like an espresso. Roasted, more or less burnt, malts. Dark fruits. A flavor of wood and metals, reminiscent of the taste you get when chewing on a wooden pencil, can also be noted. The finish is bitter with a complementary sweetness. A little bit of alcohol in the finish as well. The taste is good with a nice balance between sweetness and bitterness.
This is a reasonably thick, full-bodied and smooth brew. The mild carbonation - perhaps a little bit too mild - makes for a calm mouthfeel. The alcohol provides a nice warmth.
I enjoyed this one, a nicely balanced beer.

Aromas of toffee, caramel, vanilla, roasted malts, treacle. Flavours of licorice, toffee, some coffee, burnt malts. Warming alcohol mouthfeel. Finishes sweet, hoppy and slightly smokey. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Bottle from 2009. Pours deep brown coloured with almost no head - only a small cappuccino coloured rim inside the glass. Aromas of sugared coffee, soya sauce, mild alcohol, tobacco and salty licorice. Smooth, sticky and soft mouthfeel. Taste is sweet and roasted with notes of warming alcohol, coffee, licorice, sugar and chocolate. Rich and powerful with a burning touch of alcohol, but a little too cloying and sticky. Might be better after some time in the cellar. Frovigalning (456), , Sweden
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 1, 2009 It poured a pitch black liquid with a small light brown foam. Smell and taste of chocolate, soy sauce and some sweetness. Not as strong and heavy as I like my imperial stouts.
