Aroma of strong almonds, nuts, malt, chocolate and a touch of toffee. Medium-bodied; Assertive malty and coffee flavour with some nuts, caramel and even a light spice in the taste. Aftertaste shows mostly bitter coffee, a touch of nuts and a good amount of sugars. Overall, a decent beer - a bit too thin, and too weak on the flavours - but not horrible at all, and definitely worth trying if you go up to the GTA. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from the LCBO in Downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on 08-April-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 21-December-2009. TheHulk (149), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Smells very heavily of coffee and dark roast malts, very very delicious. Quite dark, head dissipates much too fast, some lacing and retention. Coffee flavour dominates the entire taste, can also taste alcohol and some malts in there, but it is much too thin and watery for the strength of the coffee flavour. This would be a good switching beer between coffee and beer, its a little closer to the coffee side of the equation. Spab (302), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2009 341 ml bottle. Pours a dark almost black brown with small tan head. Nice nose of roast, coffee, toffee. Very big coffee flavour with roast malt, dark fruit and dark chocolate. Moderate bitter, coffeeish finish. Quite nice. Frothmeister (20), Ontario, Canada

Mocha, Tootsie roll, and something buttery on the nose. Tastes of dark malts, molasses, burnt coffee. Slight sweetness, with a bitter finish. The "coffee" is definitely in the finish. One of my Canadian favourites. patricks110 (285), Alberta, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 5, 2009 I was expecting more. The aroma is like a hot cup of coffee, but the taste is like porter with some coffee poured into it. Pour is black with a medium tan head. Taste is malty with a bit of bitter coffee. I like it, but it could be better. stantheman (17), British Columbia, Canada

But it was in the sampler pack and I hate seeing beer go to waste. Aroma is intense ground coffee. I do enjoy the smell of coffee and I just sat and enjoyed the aroma for a while. Taste is not as much coffee that I was expecting. It is somewhat subdued. There is more chocolate and malt which made drinking it palpable to me. thepegjett (98), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
