Smells malty, like sweet bread dipped in honey, along with some floral and citrusy hops. it’s still bitter, but the sweet wins out. Taste is nice and sweet up front--lots of honey and caramel--but the hops are a bit overbearing and grassy. They kind of coat your mouth and just sit there, tasting a bit stale. Still pleasant overall, but was a little disappointed in the finish. demsoc (18), Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 12, 2009 On tap at Earth Bread and Brewery. Pours light honey colored with lots of thick white head which stays around forever. Medium lacing. Aroma is of light grapefruit. Taste is bitter grapefruit. It’s like they used just the grapefruit rind to flavor the beer and made it too bitter. Not much fruity flavor unfortunately, just bitterness. Mouthfeel was also a bit watery. I expected a little bit more heft, especially from a 7.5% abv beer. Alas, this was a disappointment from an otherwise outstanding brewer. Arayaga2 (954), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is lightly sweet and citrusy, much like the flavor (which is better, and present in greater quantity), with purfumey grapefruit oils, and a bit of bready malt. Firm bitterness into the finish $3/12oz spkldhenlvr24 (456), Newburgh/Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 2, 2009 12oz. bottle poured in tulip. Pours a clear, golden orange body with a thin white head. Aroma has all the characteristics of a big IPA. Complex grapefruit, floral, fresh hops with fruits and bready malts. Flavor is also very upfront grapefruit, a bit overly bitter hops. Crisp, nice malty finish. Medium bodied, a bit harsh. This beer for me, as an IPA fan, is very West Coast style IMO. Call me crazy but its another damn good beer from Great Lakes. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 1, 2009 Pale golden-amber brew with a thick white head. The nose is a little bit sweet with a touch of orange peel. It’s got a fair bit of diacetyl in it, that is quite surprising to me. The hops are well in attendance with a lot of hoppy bitterness, but the brewing flaws in here make it very tough to put back. Meh. patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2009 bottle - Pours lightly hazy yellow with a lingering white head. It smells of bready malt and citrus hops. The flavor is very well hopped, crisp, and citrus accented with a little malt sweetness up front. The hops is what it’s all about though and it finishes enjoyably bitter. Svesse (2613), Hässelby, Sweden

Fruity, hoppy nose with orange, apricots and grainy malt. Fruity, malty taste with notes of orange peel, grapefruit and generous doses of earthy, citrussy hops in the finish. More than medium body with a solid malt foundation and some sweetness throughout. Very nice IPA with a good balance between hops and malt.
