Nov 27, 2009 Pours a very dark red-brown with an oddly light-colored and quickly fading head. Strong aroma of sweet malt, raspberry, raisin, clove, licorice. Taste is sweet malt to start progressing to mildly tart fruit and drying out into a long herbal spicy finish. Medium body and lively carbonation. Quite different. Not nearly as strongly flavored as I expected. It actually tastes a bit watered down. Could be an off bottle.

Nov 14, 2009 [330ml bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring] Nice looking beer - a deep ruby-brown, although with virtually no head. It’s possibly a little too fizzy. Beyond that - well, it’s really just sweet and sticky. Treacle and caramel malts, with some raisins and hints of spice in the finish. Alcohol shows. Not sure what all the fuss is about this one.

Nov 3, 2009 Bottle 33. Amber beer with a strange malt aroma, bit sour at the finish or it’s the spices?? bitter and roasted. Quite disapointed about it.

Nov 2, 2009 33 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA via Winnipeg. Deep black, cola-like colour. Sweet plumb aroma with raisin flavor, reminiscent of port. Sweet finish with a faint warming alcohol mellowness. Very nice.

Oct 16, 2009 Bottle. Dark reddish brown beer with a small beige head. Strong spicy aroma has licourice and alcohol. Flavor is so rich with a bit sweetness, soft maltyness and quite bittery end. I like the saltyness very much. Body is nice and full. Maybe my favourite beer so far.

Oct 11, 2009 12 ounce bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar ($5.99). Pours a dark brown with beige head. Aroma of toffee, milk chocolate, brown sugar, spice. Lovely and delicate flavor of lightly roasted malts, milk chocolate, dark fruits and cherries, brown sugar. The coriander is there and more pronounced in the finish. Different, but an excellent brew.

Dark brown with a small head. Aroma heavy malty (caramel, dark fruits, wood, spicy), light hoppy. Flavor heavy sweet, light bitter. Almost full body. Fine.
