Bottle, a messy hop head ale that left me rather unsure. Huge pine bitterness, sharp hop resins. Some fruity notes, citrus, apple, and pineapple notes that are short lived due to the hash bitter pine, spices, and caramel malty warming. A bit over the top.

A Mes rate. Bottle at home.
Hazy amber with a off white film topping. So close to really enjoyable but there is a very clear soapy character that runs throughout. The hops are clearly good, I just dont think the blend sits together that well. I know there are things in here that I really like but itjust doesn’t sit right. The more I drink the better it gets certainly. The malt is really good and carries it well, the bitterness has excellent length, it’s just that soap. Sorry folks.

A hazy golden amber IPA with a beautiful frothy off white head. In aroma, bready hoppy and floral, pinhey, strawberry notes. In mouth, a nice doughy caramel malt with good restrained c-hops, well balanced, grapefruit notes, a bit of funk, and lighter than expected. Tasted Nov. 22 2009.

Bottle Pours a hazy golden rod with a good white head. The head is foamy a deminishing. Has a mild hoppy aroma of grass, pine, and a charcoal like smell. Has good carbonation. A crisp clean flavor. Dencent mix of malts then a light hoppy kick. Well balanced. Has a medium body. A good mouthfeel. A watery to lightly oily texture. A soft finish with areall good aftertaste. This is a good drinking beer.

22oz brown glass pry-top with a sticker on the bottom that read Oct 2008. Appearance: Medium amber/brown with an inch of sudsy white head that left a good amount of lacing on my oversized pilsner glass (Carlsberg). Nose: Candied fruits and dried fruits all around: figs, oranges, ruby red grapefruit. Also, grapefruit zest, pine cone, and a little mossy/earthy note. Palate: Big mouthfeel with caramel malt and bitter hops competing for first billing. The grapefruit is on the palate as well, some quick tropical notes, with some sweet lemon and a little thai lemon leaf/wet grass type taste. The finish is dry, bitter with a nice astringency. Notes: The nose shows no signs of slowing down, but the freshness of the hops is starting to fall away from the palate, leaving just the bitterness aspect and some leafy flavors. It may be starting to show a little oxidative characters, but not to the beers detriment. A great big IPA and most assuredly worth the humble price. More body (more malt) than the Belvidere Big IPA they just released. The Belvidere is running lean and just to showcase the hops. This is a little more "balanced" if you can say that about a Double IPA.

Pours a cloudy amber. Over balanced with hops, flavor rivals that of eating actual hops flowers. Hard to taste any subtle flavor notes here, but I enjoy hops, so I’m not going to complain too much.
