Dec 26, 2009 On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad a couple months ago. Pours a clear dark red with a light tan head that laces nicely. Aroma is sweet and malty, toasty biscuits and some pine. Flavor is very malty with some stewed fruits, a strong bitterness. Full bodied, resinous, moderate carbonation.

Sep 21, 2009 Had a sample at the brewery. Pours reddish/copper with a fluffy white head. Nice clean refreshing aroma of piney hops and sweet malts, but not cloyingly. Taste is the same.

Aug 16, 2009 On tap at Toronado 22nd anniversary. This reddish brown ale poured with a decent tan head and a malty aroma. The flavor is roasted malt with some coffee, spice and hop bitterness. It’s very well put together. After having a couple other good brews, a pint of this one pretty well did me in for the night.

Aug 5, 2009 Tap from Carlsbad. Huge floral aroma. Big crisp flavor balanced out by a malty texture and hints of toffee and caramel. I could have had a few of these but didn’t because I was driving. This reminded me alot of the Ballast Point Tongue Buckler. Awesome beer.

Jul 26, 2009 On tap at Carlsbad. Pours with a tan head and an amber body. Aroma of a salad of hops, and citrus all over. Taste is hops, caramel, earth/dirt and grain. Light bubbles, and hides the alcohol really well. Great stuff.

Jun 2, 2009 Draft @ Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen. Pours a dark ruby color with a longlasting creamy off-white head. Has a malty hoppy pine needles and grapefruit aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter grapefruit flavor with some hints of pine needles. Has a dry malty hoppy bitter grapefruit finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

Feb 17, 2009 On tap at Toronado for Barleywine fest ’09. What suck-ups! The beer is named after Toronado’s address! Oh well, it’s a great one at least. Reddish-brown color. Aroma of citrusy west coast hops and sweet malt. Flavor is more of the same with caramel, citrus, and pine. Fairly full on the palate.

Feb 15, 2009 Draft at Toronado BW fest. Reddish amber pour. Good fresh citrus hop aroma. Flavor has the same great hopping, slightly oily but nice. Good amount of bitterness, light pit fruit and caramel malt as well.
