Commercial Description:
The Three Tuns Tavern opened for business in 1732. Since then it has grown and changed with the times. Over the years it has been called the Barren Hill Hotel and the Lafayette Hotel. At the General Lafayette Inn as it is known today, we strive to produce innovative, world class beers that reflect the American Colonial spirit with a bit of French flair.

To commemorate the 275th anniversary of our building we offer this hand-bottled, Barleywine-style ale brewed with imported English ingredients.

With time this beer should gain considerable depth and complexity. Savor it.

Brewed from malted barley, hops, water and three strains of yeast. Aged in Oak Barrels. Limited to 275 bottles.

Thanks Captain Cougar for this rare bottle. Pours black and looks thickish. Chocolate dominates the aroma and provides the first element of taste. The oakiness builds up glass over glass. Not superbley drinakable, but a barleywine with lots of good chocolate, which took me so far.

Bottle at Toncatchers. Thanks to whoever brought it. Chestnut brown pour with small head. The aroma was earthy dough and yeast. The flavor had toffee, sweet malts, caramel, fruits and molasses. The palate was very smooth. The finish was long and sweet with lingering brown sugar. Overall: A very tasty BW. thanks again.

Creamy b-wine nose. Dark fruit, grapes, and caramel. Hazy orange with tiny lace in the glass. Super sweet in the mouth. Alcohol. Too sweet.

Dark Amber with just a speck of bubbles atop. Fermented fruit salad nose with boozy influences. Sweet, charred, bitter, and fruity flavors seem to orgy it up into a clashing ball of hectic nonsense. Too much going on in all different directions and all at the same time..overly charred tasting, seriously cloyingly sweet, and the bitterness is certainly a punch in the back during all of this.

Bottle from cquiroga (I think) at Lost Abbey 3rd anniversary. Yellow paper label large bottle being ignored as some other rarities are being passed around. Excellent. dark amber color. Sweet buttery malty, almost as if it were barrel aged. Alcohol well hidden.

Bottle shared by toncatcher. Nearly perfect score for this one. Increadible aroma’s and flavor. Brown sugar, mollases, caramel, almost no hops which was a good thing. For me this would be a beer that is severly underated.

22 oz. bottle via trade with DocLock some time ago - Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a thin light tan head that faded pretty quick. Little carbonation. No lacing. Aroma is cookie dough malt, esters, and alcohol. Flavor is sweet toasted malt, esters, brown sugar, alcohol, and a hint of wood (oak?). Aftertaste is almost cloying. Thick bodied. A real nice sipper. Thanks Jeff.
