Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

English: ’To From’ is the perfect Christmas gift for lazy dudes. Just fill in the To/From card on the front label and put it under the three. ’To From’ is an easy drinkable christmasporter with light malty sweetness and a slight touch of X-mas spices.

Editor’s note: This is the 2007 edition. 2008 has a separate listing.

We (with Fistfull and Twindog) can’t believe we found this beer; especially, since it is retired! Stout dark, slightly murky with a light, small bubble structured head with tinges of chesnut brown lacing in foam - beautiful head, even though light. Filberts, powdered cocoa, walnuts perfume this uniquely crafted beer. A malolactic sourness - think light gueze - hits up front before deep tones of coffee, brown sugar (but not sweet) and spices raise their heads to produce an extremely interesting array of flavors these tasters have yet to encounter. After drinking five different Thomas Hardy ales (ranging from 1986 - 1995) in a vertical tasting last week, we couldn’t help noticing the similarities in style even though the alcohol content pales by comparrison. A sensational, one-of-a-kind brew we’re glad to have been afforded the luck to taste!

Pours an opaque sable with a thick, fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma is smoky with strong tones of coffee and unsweetened chocolate - very mouth-watering. Rich flavor is like mocha with a hoppy undertone and hints of smoke, sweetness, molasses, toffee and spice. Ragged, lively, tingly texture is a great finish to this winner of a beer.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with red corners and with a very nice, creamy tan head. Good lacing on the glass. Spicy nose with mostly cinnamon, aniseed and clove. Roasted malt and coffee is also noticable with a slight smokey note. Flavour is spicey with cinnamon and anis notes as in the aroma. Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and lightly smokey. Slightly bitter finish. Medium bodied. Very drinkable.

Poured a pitch-black colour ale with a medium beige foamy head. Malty roasted grain aroma. Flavo is dry and roasted malts with some caramel. Enjoyable porter indeed.
