Pours opaque with a large, thick and creamy head, mostly retained with fair lacing. Aroma is sour lacto, wet cardboard, smoke, prune, ashy wood, raisin, tar, alcohol, and earthy-peat hops. Full bodied, creamy start, dry finish with good carbonation, and the alcohol hits last; lingering spiciness. Burnt malt, dark fruit, smoke, asphalt, dry and sweet dark chocolate make up the flavor. thebeertourist (2793), Oslo, Norway

What a very nice beer! This beer has the creamiest, richest, tastiest feel on the palate that I can remember. Lots of rich chocolate flavor all around great, this is world class. Vaiz (70), Netherlands
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Very black syrupy liquid with no head at all. Intense aroma of coffee, caramel, dark fruits and dark chocolate. Taste of coffee and caramel, sweet and slightly bitter. No carbonation present at all. Very long finish. This stuff is more liquor then beer, but very appealing. Enjoyed it a lot. MaltOMeal (652), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA

Taste is of chocolate, licorice and roast malt. Licorice is in right proportion and not overpowering. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with some bitterness in the finish. Very nice. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 13, 2009 Bottle # 218 - vintage 2008. Pitch black coloured. Huge brown head on top of this very nice looking beer. Aroma of brown sugar, roast, chocolate, cocoa, alcohol, vanilla and oak. Very nice. Flaovur is even better than the aroma. Loads of liqourice, vanilla, chocolate, herbs, roast, light coffee, cocoa, brown sugar and chen some. Very very nice. Full bodied. A bit dryness. Ends on a roasty bitterness with a very subtle alcoholwarmth on lips and palate. 11.9% ABV is hardly recognicable. Fantastic.....
