Commercial Description:
Voilá! A beer from chilly Quebec inspired by the "rauchbier" you find in Bamberg, Germany — a dark beer made partly from smoked malt, aged slowly at low temperatures, and put in the bottle unfiltered, with a fine yeast sediment. All for one!

Bottle. Pours black with a small light tan head. Aroma of smoked meats, charred malts. Flavor is quite smoky initially with a smoky, meaty finish. There is a nice sweet malt backbone to complement the smoky notes. A classic smoked, very tasty! 8/4/8/4/15 [3.9/5]

750ml bottle. Nicely smoky aroma, some light roast, coffee and faint chocolate sweetness. Deep, dark brown in color, head is fine and slight. Dry, smoky flavor, some chocolate sweetness again in the background, charry and flavorful, finishing with touches of roasted grains and faint wood. Smooth, easygoing mouthfeel, with a soft, medium body. Good smoke! Cheers to Eugene for the sample.

Very dark brown, lasting thin beige head, good lacing.
Aroma is sweet, lots of smoke, some light milk chocolate, good roasted malts.
Flavour is quite smoky, some spice and sourness, very roasty, some chocolate.
Smoky mouth, med body, mod carb.
Finishes long, smoky and malt.

Another nicely done beer from these guys, good quality from start to finish.

750ml bottle purchased at Marché de Savoures in Montreal, Quebec.

Aroma of smoke and rich, roasted malts. Pours a very dark brown with a brown head. Taste is of roasted malt, oak and smoke. Pretty good smoke beer. Better experience than my last.

750 ml bottle. Sampled a few times under different labels- ratings from BCTC unfiltered version. Pours a murky hazed light brown deep amber with a nice lasting head. Aroma is caramel toffee good cold smoked fish and meats- light on the campfire, nicely restrained. Flavor has more smoke, chocolate malts, light roast and burn, light phenolics, clean yeast, lager-like and light smoldering ashes- clean smooth finish.

Bottle shared at EDAs post Thanksgiving bash. Poured a deep dark brown/black center with some murky brown edges and a medium foamy beige head. Aroma of smoke, grain, chocolate, grassy hops and earth notes. This one is smooth yet creamy with slightly strong carbonation. Flavors of grainy and chocolate malts with the smoke being more subdued then in the aroma. Nice stuff and thanks to Dickinsonbeer for sharing....I think.

You can definately smell the smok in the malt, its like a clean campfire smell in a bottle. Deep and dark, great head, retains lacing throughout the durationg of the glass. There is great malt flavour but it is quickly overshadowed by the imense thickness that the smoke as added or brought out. Its quite a strong flavour, but seems to dull mid palate before a strong aftertaste of the bubbles and smoke. Quite nice, but the smoke in the malt is a bit too peaky before the dull midlle taste, I think some more hops would fit in nicely if they could find a good match.

The aroma is mostly of smoke with not much else contributing. Taste is much more full and balanced, with lots of crisp malt and some bittering.
