In the growler at the 2008 Crescent Moon Extreme Beerfest. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with a thin tan head. Lots of raisins and vinous notes to the aroma. This is only a medium thickness for a barleywine. There’s lots of chocolate flavors and some seriously unusual fruitiness to this beer owing to the brewer’s use of a LAGER yeast in this. Nice experimental brew. I’d buy this in the bottle if Empyrean had the balls to bottle a barleywine.

Growler at Extreme Beerfest 2008 (Crescent Moon): Sweet aroma with roasted notes throughout. Raisin flavor hides alcohol content very well. Dark brown color with no head and some haze.
