Appearance: Honey Gold it says in the name, and honey gold it looks in the glass, no doubt about it, with a small, departing white head.
Aroma: soft, calm, mellow sweetness, just a hint of honey, bright and pretty.
Taste: a most welcome hoppy blitzes the tongue, buzzing like a honey bee, then it’s all smooth-sailing, light, yummy. Light to medium body, tasty texture, nice finish. Quite a nice little ale, I could see it sitting in for a session or just a light change of pace for the palate.

Really no taste at all. The aftertaste is some sort or bitter rubber that just is not right. No honey taste whatsoever. HUGE dissapointment. I would rather drink bud. I could discern no honey aroma or taste. Overall, pretty boring lager. I think that I might enjoy this more in the bottle than on tap here at the source. This mystifies me. The first in Missour to rate Empyrean. I’m very lucky. No description but its sweet and hoppy, nice malt flavor, this is a very good beer. I’m in the process of acquiring more Empyrean as we speak. This is a solid brand that not many have tried. If you need a Nebraska to complete your 50, this is a very good choice. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 11, 2004 Very nice clear amber color, small white head that faded quickly and left little behind. The aroma was malty sweet and honey with a spicy note in there but i could just be dreamin,at times it almost smells like Chaucers Mead, just not as heavy in the aroma. The honey does manage to come through in the aroma but just lightly. The flavor was light malt and a mildly sweet honey hint with just a bit of caramel and maybe some spiciness but it’s hard to say if it’s for real. The finish was sweet and honeyish with a sweet malt after taste. It’s nothing real special but still a decent brew. Thanks go to Matt_Dinges for sending this one my way. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 21, 2003 Clear golden honey yellow in color with a small off-white head thats loose on top and retains for a short while before fading to a very thin ring and drippy lace. Smell has some faint sweet malts, light caramel sense and honey; soft nose. Taste is a weakened brigade of soft malts lending a touch of doughnuts and caramel, has a small but nice little floral sweet hop bite that gives it a nudge past the midway point and has adequate carbonation but a lighter body feel with a hint of honey that creeps in after the crispy clean finish.
Not a bad beer but something I wouldn't return to. 5lbgrin (1), Lincoln, Nebraska, USA does not count | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/20 | Feb 18, 2003 Malt is evident in aroma as is sublte hint (pine?) in aroma. Very bready, nice dryness from honey. Nice american hop (pine) finish, hard to find anything comparable in Nebraska. K-V-F-L (292), LaVista, Nebraska, USA
