| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 25, 2003 Murky brown with scarlet hidden in the depths. Soft frothy head which whips up on pouring, but then settles into Brussels lace. Dark malty aroma - brown bread. Mouthfeel has usual bottled beer harsh carbonation. Difficult to get fully at the flavours through the prickling bubbles. Some red fruits in there, some acid, some tree bark. Acceptable enough, but nothing special. As Kasta says, let it settle a while before drinking. JorisPPattyn (5168), Antwerpen, Belgium

Bitter from dark malts on sweet base, without any refinement. Maybe some licorice.Medium-filled, no aftertaste. Not very rewarding. If short of choice, however... GreatDane (100), Ballerup, Denmark

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 19, 2003 Slightly hazy bright dark reddish color. Sweet malt and nuts in the nose followed by raisins and other varying dark fruits. A touch of alcohol and a light sweetness are also present. At the front of the body is a light spritzy and a hint of dust that indicates its age. Nice warming alcohol carries into a sweet fruitiness which is quickly attacked by a bitter yeastiness. Dries out towards the end with a light hoppiness. Nice pleasant dubbel, maybe a bit old, but has come together okay. Ungstrup (15121), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 13, 2003 An unclear amber beer with a fine head. The aroma is a lovely malty one. The flavor too is lovely sweet malty and a little sour. diabel (1369), Aarschot, Belgium
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 27, 2003 Almost black colour, brownish head. Little bit spicy aroma. Bitter , little bit spicy flavour. I expected something special of this beer because it is an abbey ale, but actuallu is was quite a disappointment. At least at first I thought af a pilsener with a bit intenser taste. Though, after a while I also perceived some sweetish tastes. An average ale.
