Aroma of coffee with an underlying light sweetness. Pours dark brown almost black with pretty much no head. The flavor is roasted malt, coffee, and light chocolate. I enjoyed this one, and my only complaint is that it might have been a little too watery. It did have a nice coffee flavor however.

Draft at the brewpub. Black, still, headless, laceless. Looks two days old sitting there in the glass. Not a great presentation, especially for a porter. Neutral--and I do mean neutral--nose. Watery light body. Stale licorice on the mid-palate, followed by a mild milk chocolate finish. Yawn.

On tap at Engine House #9 in Tacoma, WA--Poured a dingy dark brown with a small off-white head. Acidic, nutty, gnarley nose. Molasses, toffee, and bold coffee, but not to the degree it should have been. This beer is not super terrible. That should tell you right there what I thought of this brewery.

Draught @ Brew Pub Tacoma. Dark brown pour. Lots coffee and residual sweetness. Over done with the coffee in my opinion. Decent though.

on tap-pours a retaining tan head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-coffee/molasses, some sharpness/acidic. Taste is dark malt-coffee/molasses, some sharpness/acidic-hops. Mild carbonation.

Not as much aroma as you’d expect. Flavor is very strong of coffee. Roasted, but with a sweet finish. Too much coffee for me.

Enjoyed this one on draught at the brewpub in Tacoma, WA. Pours to a deep brown to black color, with a creamy, tan head, and a moderate carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent, with lots of good dark chocolate, coffee, and roasty notes. The palate is firm, with good dark chocolate, and malty flavors, paired with just a touch of estery fruit, and a very nice coffee/roasty flavor. This beer finishes with more good dark chocolate, and coffee up front, then ends dry and roasty, with good roasty flavor that lingers. Excellent robust porter, with really good dry, roasty, coffee aromas, and flavors. I really enjoyed this one. It would make an excellent match with the pub grub, or deserts on the brewpub’s menu.
