luckygirl (1212), Longmont, Colorado, USA Nov 23, 2005 This beer poured a hazy dark greenish brown with hardly any head. Aromas included cookie, carmel, molasses and some sort of mysterious aftershave like aroma—bay leaves, maybe? The palate was light-to-medium with a velvety texure and soft carbonation. The flavor was lightly bitter and a short, slightly sweet finish. I didn’t find this beer terribly engaging, but not bad. ratman197 (2276), Arvada, Colorado, USA May 2, 2005 2003 vintage. Pours a clear reddish-brown with a thin amber head that dissapates quickly except for the side of the glass.Malty aroma with some vinous notes, spices and chocolate. Very thin body for a winter ale. Tastes of chocolatey malt up front, followed by more malt and spices. MrDick (269), San Francisco, California, USA Feb 20, 2003 Pours medium brown with little head. They're not messing around with this winter warmer - it's all spice and more spice. Aftertaste of orange peel, pumpkin and apples. Unfortunately, the flavor does not match up to the amazing aroma. beerguy101 (3478), Newark, California, USA Jan 25, 2003 Medium brown color. Small head. Aroma is amazing spicy and malty and perfumey. Malty and slightly sweet. Carmel and toffee. Very spicy. Nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and others. A milder flavored ale. Very drinkable but it does NOT live up to its wonderful nose. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. mwsf (361), San Francisco, California, USA Jan 25, 2003 Light brown with a small head. Nice spicy, somewhat-perfumey aroma alongside a beautiful malt aroma. Very strong caramelized malt flavor. Slight sweetness. I can't really put my finger on the spices--cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg? Fairly light bodied. Wonderful aroma whose promise is left unfulfilled.
