| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 3, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown with small white head, nose of roasted malts. Serve a little too cold, but had good carbonation. I’m thinking this would be much better as it warms up. SamGamgee (1465), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 22, 2009 Draught at the brewpub. Brown with a small head. Lightly burn toasted bread and light hops in the aroma. Sweet, toffeeish malt flavors with a dry, lightly roasted finish. Light bodied with medium carbonation. A decent brown, but nothing to write home about. joeneugs (346), Livermore, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 23, 2009 Pours brown with a small off white head. It has a faint nutty aroma. The taste is of nuts and mild baking spices, particularly anise. A pretty typical brown ale, not exciting, but goes down nice with food. chandler0201 (358), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 12, 2009 Brown pour with decent sized head, some nutty malts. Cereal notes in flavor, some fruits, this paired perfectly with vanilla ice cream, which made it taste more coffee in notes. Good finish. doubleo (1121), San Diego, California, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 27, 2008 A- Translucent brown in color with a nice 2 finger thick head.
S- Smell consisted of a nutty roasted malt aroma.
T- Taste was very creamy. Maybe this was due to the fact that it was served from a cask but it was like butter. Strong nut and roasted malt taste.
M- The mouthfeel was fairly thick with absolutely no carbonation. I went with a friend and he loved it however I simply could not enjoy the mouthfeel because it was too creamy.
D- This was a fairly easy brew to drink. It went down quick and left me feeling ready to drink more. rayOfBeer (319), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Jan 17, 2008 From hand pump cask, this beer came out dark opaque brown with a thin disappearing head. It smelled of toasty malt -- promising. But it didn’t deliver. The flavors where of toasted grains and nuts but watery through and through. No mouth feel at all. Perhaps if the beer was not hand pumped it would have some acidity from carbonation. I would not order this one again.
