ekstedt (1785), Göteborg, Sweden Jun 4, 2007 Bottle, 33 cl. Dark reddish brown, medium fizzy beige head. Roasted malt aroma, with some woody notes. Medium bodied, medium CO2. Well balanced with a firm bitterness. A decent porter. cgarvieuk (2302), Edinburgh, Scotland May 2, 2007 A deep red/brown coloured brew, with a roast malt nose with atinge of sourness, sharp but not unplesent citric notes in front with rounded malt. kramer (1864), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 10, 2007 12 oz bottle, via rickgordon. Pours a clear mahogany colored body under a large fizzy light brown head that slowly receded to nothing leaving no lacing. Nose is chocolaty and roasty with a good bit of raw oak and a vinous quality. There’s also some grape soda and light hoppiness. The flavor is a little thin, mostly dry roasted malt and very minimal oak tannins. A little coffee and grape on the finish that’s a little astringent. Mouthfeel is pretty thin and watery with alot of fizzy prickly carbonation, similar in alot of ways to seltzer water. Overall, this was a concept that never reached full fruition. Needs alot more body and true oak aging. MiP (4927), Flensburg, Germany Jan 9, 2007 Bottle, 5.0%. Vinous pine needle aroma. Very dark brown colour, small light brown head. Quite flavourful, lots of vanilla and some sweetness. Very late coffee aftertaste. Vanilla in porter is good. Miksu (1244), Jyväskylä, Finland Jan 6, 2007 0.33 l bottle. Ruby color with small tan head. Sweetish, woody and piney aroma with cola, coffee and ginger. Dryer flavor with coffee, charcoal, ginger and caramel. English hop flavor in the background with firm bitterness. Long and woody finish with notes of fruity hops and dark cough medicine. Weird cola-ginger element!
