Commercial Description:
Lovers of strong beer need not worry that ERDINGER Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is going to be too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers. Despite the higher alcohol content, the Erding brew masters have succeeded in retaining the special Pikantus taste.

I have had this many times over the years. A favorite in a pub overlooking the dom in Bamberg, germany. Nice dark appearance with a roasty chocolate taste. Love the bock beer taste.

500ml bottle. An astoundingly good beer. It is like a mixture of weizen, dunkel and stout in style. The initial carbonation is strong, giving it a powerful presence. This fades into a luscious, velvety and rich finish, with strong hints of chocolate and coffee. A remarkably enjoyable drink from start to finish.

Bottle - Dark and murky brown with beige head. Sweet. Fruit and spicy. nutty. Medium carbonation. Medium body. Only the faintest touch of alcohol (more in the aroma than in the flavour) A little frothy on the tongue. Slightly dry finish.

[bottle] Musty aroma with a surprising amount of noble hops and nutty, spicy, raisiny malt. Cloudy, very dark brown covered by a rocky, dense, khaki foam. Sweet, pleasant cereal grainy malt up front, followed by nutty and raisiny character and very subtle bitterness. Balance is towards sweet, but there is a pleasant, nutty dryness. More bock than weizen. Medium body, medium to high carbonation, slightly sweet finish.

500 ML bottle in Germany. Drak brown color with a nice light brown crown. Aroma is a caramel, banana and bread. A bit weak but very complex. Taste is a dream, a nice mix of roasty malts with with a hint of smoke as well. Has some floral strong alcohol flavors as well. Palate ends sweet and smooth. Let warm a bit before you drink this if it was in a frige and also let the carbs settle as well. For sure Erdinger’s flagship brew. One of my top beers.

Bottle. Nice mahogany body topped by a good-sized tan head that doesn’t last very long. Aroma is toasted malt, dark sugar, a little banana. The flavor is dark fruit, bready, a little spice, cola, restrained sweetness. Prickly carbonation does detract a bit. Not that complex but still a nice easy drinker.
