Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

500mL Much more mild than I expected, but didn’t know it was only a 5.6% abv. The aroma is roasted malt but subtle. The palate is middle-of-the-road (not too creamy, not too harsh, not too thick, not too thin). Flavor is a little dirty or tinny but with some sweetness from the malt and a little bubblegum and banana, but pretty mild flavor. Overall, goes down pretty easy, but wanted some more flavor out this dark german wheat beer. It doesn’t really have anything to make it stand out, but it’ll be easy to polish off the second one i bought.

500mL bottle from LCBO. Nice beer. Pours dark brown with thick frothy head. Dark roasty malts, body a bit thin. Brown sugar, some bannana. Finish very smooth.

Bottle. Very dark, almost black. Aroma of chocolate, caramel; big and buiscuity but will little weizen character. Almost no banana. Flavor also is big on caramel and chocolate, lots of dark malt character but tastes little like a wheat beer. Decent enough, more really like a regular Munich dunkel.

Pours cloudy reddish brown. The aroma is cream, roasty dark malts, and a small amount of typical hefe mixed with a dash of metal. The aroma reminds me a bit of a schwarzbier. The flavor is sweet malt, a bit of metal, and a little hefe but not much.

Bottle. Pours dark, dark brown with a greyish beige creamy head with plenty of lacing. Spicy and fruity nose, citrus, banana, cloves, raisins, bread. Flavours is mostly the same, with a slightly stronger roasted side to it. Body is medium to light, the carb makes it feel a bit thin. Not bad, but nothing I’ll actively seek out again.

Pretty nice. Super smooth. Light wheat and spice aromas with a similar taste. A bit of sweetness in the aftertaste which is a nice touch. It’s kind of perfect for the fall, light and tasty.

Tap. Good dunkelweizen. Aroma is roasted malt, and some grain. Flavour has good length, mostly sweet with light bitterness. The palate is thin and watery. Black in colour, with average-sized frothy head.
