Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

500ml bottle. Dark brown pour with thick, foamy cola head. nose is sweet, dark malts. Complex sweet, rusty-metallic taste which reminds me of some weak attempts at imp stouts. slightly sticky and syrupy, very robust.

500ml bottle. Murky dark brown with a tight tan head. Wheaty nose, mildly malty and a bit roasty, sweet banana. Lightly roasty flavor, seems just a tad thin in the body. Carob and banana notes, light esters. Seems maltier than most. Nice.

Bottle. The smell is very light sour and malty, a little bit of chocolate. The head is medium large, dark white and creamy with a normal duration. The body is brown. The taste is malty and light bitter with a normal duration. A lot of carbonation, the body is light and fizzy.

Pours dark brown with light tan head. Roasted caramel malt aroma. Sweet toasted malt flavor with mild hops and some clove. Medium body with average carbonation. I enjoyed this one more than their hefe-weizen.

If this was a regular hefeweizen, it would pwn, but it is a dunkel, so I therefore expected something more palpable. Instead, this guy is as water. Very refreshing, tho, after skateboarding 20 blocks to get to the bar.
