Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

This Dunkel pured a nice black colour with a big, fat cream coloured head. To the nose there are scents of raisens, grape juice, prunes, ripe fruit, molassass and caramel. First taste had a thick mouthfeel with a very smooth texture. Flavours of molassass and ripe fruit most prodominent. Slightly watery, not as rich as I figured it would be. Finish is slightly burnt and very malty flavoured. Palate is also slightly burnt in flavour with molassass and caramel flavours.

500 ml bottle. Pours deep black, with a big frothy tan head. Dark caramel and vanilla in the nose. Wheat and roasted malt are dominant taste, also some nutty flavour. Carbonation is light and mouthfeel are soft. Good session beer!

Highly refreshing drink. Erdinger just keeps getting the carbonation right when it’s not a bottle. A nice dark wheat beer with a "come hitheto" aroma. Fine balance of wheat malt, lop hop, banana, clove, woody and vanilla flavours. Slight bitterness on account of the roast. In return, there is a nutty complexion. However, easy on the palate. Light to medium body. Fantastic with grilled meats and rich food. Value for money. Opt for draught/tap whenever and wherever possible.

Dark brown hue with amber highlights, small off-white head dissipates, hazy from wheat sediment. Nose is cloves, bananas, vanilla, bubblegum, moderate bready grains, caramel. Taste is slight banana and cloves, vanilla, bread and wheat prominent throughout, low hop flavor and bitterness, light tart, finishes dry. Medium body, very high carbonation, creamy full texture. Great example of the style with a somewhat subdued aroma.

Bottle; pours a dirty, reddish brown color with a medium to large tan head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, dark fruit and a light hint of vanilla and cocoa. Flavor was a lot dryer than expected; not hugely dry, just surprising. Wheat and dark fruit predominate. Some caramel and cocoa tones. A good amount of carbonation in the palate, almost became a turn off. That being said, it was extremely easy to drink. All around solid beer.
