Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

500ml bottle. Poured a dark tan colour with a big foamy tan head. Taste and aroma of burnt malt. Could drink more than one of these.

Beautiful deep, brown colour and long-lasting head. The dark malt is nice. Milder flavour that might better suit the spring (instead of winter). Caramel, hint of banana, almost no bitterness and a very short finish.

Poured an attractive dark brown that was nearly black with a generous tan head that lasted a while. The aroma is a combination of fruit, chocolate, and caramel. The flavor is similar to the smell and I think the chocolate intensified a bit as the beer got warmer. The mouthfeel was pleasant. This was a good beer with good drinkability.

Bottle. Pours cloudy cocoa brown, thick cream colored head. Nose is citruisy. Just a hint of dark chocolate banana flavor before going to citrus, yeast, finishing sour. A refreshing, smooth beer but not as banana/clovey as a lot of European Hefs. Worth drinking once.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark dunkel with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with light caramel and light banana aftertaste. Taste is mostly dominated by some roasted malt with a light bitter finish and some light fruity notes also noticeable. Average body with good carbonation. OK but again a style that really doesn’t appeal to me that much.

Dark brown with light brown head. Smell of light smoke and sweets, some banana. Taste kicks off with some yeast and lemon, then moves to smoke and rests in a roasted bread finish. Nice. Very foamy, medium fill to the palate.
