Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

500ml bottle: Beautiful coffee colour with dissipating fizzy brown head. Lively carbonation. Toasty notes in the nose with dark chocolate. More of the same in the flavour along with hints of licorice and banana; wheat being almost absent. Medium-bodied with a pleasant dry end.

Mild flavors of toasty dark barley, some biscut, some clove, a little mild hoppiness. Overall I always find this a little bland.

Hazy dark brown pour with a fluffy long lasting head. Aroma of fruit, yeast, roasted grain, chocolate and caramel malts. Nice fruity, roasty flavor as well. Nicely carbonated and smooth on the palate. Just a hint of spicy hops on the finish. A pretty good brew.

Dark brown cloudy fluid with a fluffy off white head. Nose of yeasty fruits and caramel. Likewise for the flavour with a satisfying full bodied carbonated mouthfeel. Hint of vanilla in the finish. You would probably feel quite full after a few of these.

Bottle from Crown. Dark brown pour, nice fluffy head. Aroma is full of wheat, yeast, dried fruit and maybe some really dark caramel notes. Flavor is yeasty, fruity, a hint of spice, and has a great mouthfeel.

Nice dark brown cola pour, big foamy head. Taste is wheaty, malt, cola and belgian yeast, almost sweet and sour taste. Nice yeasty/wheat finish. Nice beer.

Pours a deep brown colour, with a reasonably thick brown head. Nose is lots of dark fruits. Plenty of raisins, and just a hint of dark chocolate. Flavour is fruity, but not like a fruit beer, just fruity. There is also a lot of spicyness which I would assume to be wheat. Also a hint of banana and maybe some cloves, although, I may just be imagining that part because I think it should be there possibly. Mouthfeel is not too bad, there is some body to it, and the carbonation is not too strong. Reasonably light drinking for a dark beer too. Not bad,
