Papillon (172), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Oct 13, 2009 500 mL Bottle. Rich black coffee-like body with a 2 finger rocky tan head leaving good lace. Aroma of plums, raisin pie, floral, and grains. Flavor is dark ripe fruits with sweet and toasted malts and grains. Caramel and banana come through in the aftertaste followed by a hint of brown sugar and an innuendo of spices in the finish. Carbonation a bit heavy-handed. Eructoblaster (1477), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Oct 13, 2009 Bottle - 500ml. Pours a cloudy dark brown body with low carbonation and a huge beige frothy head. Fair malty/hoppy aroma with yeasty and brown sugar hints. Taste is well balanced but it lacks complexity and strength. Ends with a decent bittersweet, yeasty finish. Classic Dunkelweizen. Nordcore (266), North of, Norway Oct 12, 2009 Bottle 50 cl. Dark brown, almost black with i nice lightbrown head. Aroma; sweet, chocolate and dark fruits. Nose shows ripe banana, spicy noble hops, wheat and some darker (toasted) grains.
Flavours consist of toasted grains, some caramel, banana, more noble hops, wheat, some alcohol, followed by a very light bitterness.
Refreshing light body, but carbonation is over the top!
Very easy to drink. fredthecat (179), Canada Oct 4, 2009 dark brown with a light beige head, nice biting, acidic chocolate, caramel, very sweet, feels very strong! very nice and unique yinzerbeernut (39), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 1, 2009 I found this in the back of my beer cooler and was in need of something dark. Unfortunately, this wasn’t exactly it. In appearance I’ve got an off white dark beer. Medium in body for what I was expecting. Despite the lighter body it is balanced with a short finish. Tomorrow, I may not remember what I drank. Definitely average. cst778 (1), Massachusetts, USA does not count Sep 27, 2009 A little light for my tastes, but not bad overall. Minimal weight and staying power for such a dark colored beer. Spab (236), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 19, 2009 500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours an opaque dark brown with a hint of red and small, soapy tan head. Mild aroma with roast and toffee notes. Flavour oflight roast malt, sweet toffee and grains. Lively, fine carbonation.
