austone (999), Turku; Pori, Finland Jul 27, 2008 Dark brown, light beige foamy head. Sourish apple sauce aroma, little roasted malts and rust. Flavor is softly roasted and wheaty with little coffee and cocoa. Smoooth. Medium bodied, a bit spritzy carbonation. Very schwartzbier like dunkelweizen, I like that roastiness. saltebru (13), Ionia, Michigan, USA Jul 25, 2008 Dark copper brown with a strong head. Aroma is of cloves, yeast, citrus, banana and roasted coffee. Taste of roasted coffee with a subtle hint of salt and sour. The aftertase is of a semi-sweet caramel. BeerGestapo (725), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 20, 2008 (GERMAN) Pours a very dark brown almost black in color with a lg-tan head. The aroma is of dark malts and wheat. Taste kind of has a roasted almond flavor. There is some nice carbonation, but finishes a bit on the watery side. I still think this dunkel would go very nice with a meal. screwball (796), Motala, Sweden Jul 20, 2008 Dark. Burnt and malty. Quite light and easy to drink. Watery...
There might be some coffee, wood tone to it.
Also of course some yeast tone.
I lke the brighter ones better. bkurtz (276), Peru Jul 19, 2008 500ml bottle Poured dark brown with a off-white head. Some toasted malt, but rather thin. Ok brew, but nothing exceptional. petermadsen (391), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark Jul 16, 2008 A dark brown, quite clear dunkel with an aroma of lightly burned malt and wheat. The flavour is in the same alley with a balanced, low-bitter finish. Ok... ansermadide (496), Kyle, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 (Sample from September 29, 2006 Beer Club Meeting; 500ml bottle, last on July 12, 2008) Quick drink before going out… looks great in the glass, a lovely dark brown color. Light and sweet, but less sweet than many of the lighter Weissbiers. More heavy, malty and minerally. Honestly, I think of this beer and I think "lunch". Goes great with a bag lunch, ham & cheese, etc. Yummy! jujubeast6000 (772), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 10, 2008 (bottle 03-2009): Pours a dark reddish body. Brownish head, creamy & lasting, and pretty big. Malty, somewhat banany aroma, grapey. Not too strong an aroma. Somewhat banana, dusty taste. More body than a hefeweizen. Nutty.
