There is a malty flavor with a little bit of metallic and spicy hop flavor in the aftertaste. Good wheat beer. Better than it’s lighter brother. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 11, 2008 Very dark, probably the darkest dunkelweizen I’ve seen. Great rich chocolate and toffee aroma. The flavor is lacking, just a soft toastiness. Very little weizen. WesKBob (321), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Jun 8, 2008 Labeled as "Erdinger Hefe-Weizen Dark", so I hope I’m rating this in the right place. Poured a dark brown with a moderate beige head. Aroma is wheat bread and sweet malts. Flavor is smooth and malty. Very little in the way of hops or fruitiness. Not bad and a smooth drink, but not much in the way of complexity kiefdog (1585), Tampa, Florida, USA

Smells of malt, ripe fruit, spice, and slighty sour and sweet aromas. Flavor is malt, hints of oak, faint sweetness, bread and yeast. ptorrento (4), Sacramento, California, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 4, 2008 Smooth, rich, not much bite. Caramel and chocolate but somehow not real sweet. Excellent with food as it doesn’t overwhelm. Really nice finish. notalush (2643), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Dark ruby beer that fails to kick up much of a head, despite my vigorous pour - kind of bock-ish aroma, with strong caramel, chocolate, and raisin - very faint wheat in the background - soft, yet full in the mouth - light wheat tartness up front is squashed quickly by sweet caramel, fig, and chocolate that last through the middle - dries out a little late, and the wheat character becomes apparent again, adding just a tiny bit of tartness - a little metallic on the back end - more like a weizenbock than a dunkelweizen - not quite what I was in the mood for, but pretty tasty. esjaygee (1519), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 30, 2008 Milky brown with a medium light tan head. Aroma of light chocolate and wheat. Flavor of sweet & dark malts, wheat and nuts. Creamy texture. A bit different from the other dunkleweizens I had tried to this point – no banana or clove qualities. More like a Dunkel crossed with an American wheat beer. TheElder (49), DeSoto, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 29, 2008 When held up to a light this beer is a dark ruby. Personally I think it looks great, but the aroma and taste did not impress me as much. Not much to keep the palate entertained. Pretty straight forward all the way through. the sweetness is the only thing that works for me.
