Tweety (336), Vancouver, Washington, USA Apr 25, 2008 I love dunkelweiss! This is a style that isn’t done often enough. Like a normal German weiss with just a touch of malty sweetness. Very refreshing. UnholyBrewing (448), Melbourne(Mulgrave), Australia Apr 14, 2008 Updated: Apr 24, 2008...decent dunkel but nowhere near where it should be. Spicy, floral notes, blended with a slightly complex malt flavor. Dark, with roasted hints make this a good all around, balanced dunkel, but should be much better. McGarnigle (301), Rochester, New York, USA Apr 13, 2008 Bottle dated 4/08 (and on sale). Dark brown, lighter around the edges. Fluffy head seems a little hollow and fades. Not much aroma. Effervescent carbonation, but there’ too much of it, and it interferes with the taste. At the end, there’s a light roasted cocoa and spice flavor which is really nice. A mixed bag. andrewboss (137), New York, USA Apr 12, 2008 Updated: May 1, 2009Had it after a nice sauna. Great taste - compex mix of bitterness and fruitiness.
Second time around I had it in a bottle; not as great as its tap brother. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Apr 8, 2008 (cleaning out my beer bottle collection as pictured in my profile and utilizing ratebeer.com)
As I recall, this was a nice malty dunkel. Bosskie (106), Netherlands Apr 5, 2008 Almost black with a creamy, generous head.
Sweetish-fruity smell with citrics and hints of banana and cocoa.
Bitter-sweet taste. Watery.
Citric coffee palate with a refreshing wateriness.
Not bad. Bit too subtle for my taste. 17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 4, 2008 Pours dark brownish/black with a large frothy khaki head. Some chocolate and raisins in the aroma. Fruity raisin and light chocolate flavor. Not very interesting at all. Somewhat thin watery body and lots of fizzy carbonation. Daredevil (77), Bern, Switzerland Apr 4, 2008 beautiful opaque color ... firm head ... smell of bananas, mango slightly tainted by a hint of detergent ... the taste is buttery, fruity, a slight bitterness, which is not too well integrated ...
quite a good beer, which could become a truly great beer with a bit of improvement in the brewhouse ....
