I didn’t have it again until last week. Nice rich malty dunkel with a respectable dry finish. Not too sweet like many other dark lagers. albert007 (409), Penobsquis, New Brunswick, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 23, 2008 Dark brown, oily-looking beer; frothy, dark tan-colored head. Aroma of bitter chocolate and nice welcoming malt with hints of piney hop. Smooth drinking, light to medium bodied with a slightly sweet finish amidst mild toastiness. mybestfriend (262), Gothenburg, Sweden
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Feb 22, 2008 Bottle. Pours an opaque brown colour. Some roasted malts and liquorice on the nose - but to thin! Flavour is caramel with some sweetness. Some roasted notes. I don’t know...I’m not that impressed. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Feb 20, 2008 One of the best dunkel weisse beers I’ve ever had. Tried it the first time on tap in Stuutgart, Germany. NIce creamy texture, full head, great dessert beer. Try it with a slice of German chocolate cake. imdownthepub (5119), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 20, 2008 Bottled, 500ml. Dark brown to copper with cream head. Not the heavy flavours that I would expect from this type of beer, some spicyness, banana from the wheat but a slightly dull, dark malt body reduces the experience. A smidgeon of hops in the close, again not enought to raise it to a great beer, but it was ok. TaktikMTL (2758), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada
(Rating #1478) Davinci (295), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Tasting notes from last year. Bottle. Mild roasty nose with standard banana and cloves. Dark but not black pour with rocky head that sticks around. Flavor is banana, some caramel, and a bit of lager funk. Pretty light body considering and easy to drink, but not terribly exciting. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Tasted 2008-02-14. Fresh bottle. Pours unclear cola colured with beige head. Aroma: Banana, cloves, caramel. Boring. Flavours: Slightly metallic, otherwise same as aroma. The metal fades, but the beer keeps being boring.
