Dec 15, 2007 Brown color; small lingering head. Aroma of caramel and dark malts, slight banana and nuts. Flavor matches aroma with notes of wood, carob, bread and very slight bitter chocolate, coffee, minerals and tropical fruit. Not too heavy but flavorful.

Dec 11, 2007 Dieses Bier ist wirklich ein Genuss. Schon wenn man die Flasche sieht, bekommt man Lust auf den Inhalt. Und das Bier enttäuscht nicht. Sieht klasse aus im Glas, hat ein super Aroma und der Nachgeschmack bleibt einem noch lange sehr positiv in Erinnerung. Kann ich nur empfehlen.

Dec 2, 2007 Updated: Nov 27, 2008Dark color, strong head. It contains to much roasted malt, the roasted taste dominate the beer, the acidic and banana taste waste away.
At the second rate: Now i had a moaderated sample with a moderated design(the label is not a black one, it is a friendly brown one) and i must update my rate... The taste is moderated too, the dunkel character is easier than before. Better, really good one. Complex and fine body, smooth mouthfeel. Fine roasted malt, banana and spicy taste, clove and vanilla, some cinnamon.Yumm, really fine!!!

Nov 29, 2007 Smells unsurprisingly yeasty and wheaty, with only hints of malt. Pours a murky dark brown with some floaties if you hold it up to a light. Great looking head with big ol bubbles. After warming up a little it has some nice caramel and hints of chocolate in the typical crisp and wheaty hefe body. I got it from BevMo and got it because the tag for it said WEIZEN BOCK so I was looking forward to that but it must’ve been labeled wrong. I like this more than the Ayinger but only slightly. It has a slightly bigger body but it’s still pretty light like you’d expect a wheat beer to be. Nice price at $2.59 for the bottle.

Nov 29, 2007 .5 liter bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small fizzy white head. The body is quite thin and smooth. The taste is quite like a hefe-weizen, but not citrusy or sweet. A strong wheat flavor with some roasted malt and cocco. Really drinkable and nice.

Nov 27, 2007 Half-liter bottled labeled a dark hefe-weizen, not dunkel - but I think it is the same. Dark brew with a foamy head. Mild to medium hefe flavor with an astringent rye finish. Fairly hi carbonation. Clean, crisp, and tasty. this was my first dunkel, and I would like to try more.
