Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

It’s a very good beer. It looks like a porter but doesn’t really have a head. The taste and aroma are awesome. I drank this out of a shaker.

Very light for a dark beer! Thin mouth feel and carbonated to the extreme ( which in fact is nice). Dark brown in color with off white, quickly disappearing, head. Aroma wise sweet toffee, banana, coffee and chocolate. Roasty flavor, hint of licorice along with the flavors of the aroma. Quite fruity. The watery body makes it a bit of a boring drink. Still I suppose fairly interesting…

50cl bottle from systembolaget. Dark, murky brown with a nice sudsy and thick light tan head. Aroma is very light with a slight wheat/grain and yeast. medium body and higher carbonation. Tastes like bananas, toffee and cloves. Light subdued bitterness. has that sweet hefe taste. Pretty good, but nothing special. Probably couldnt drink more than one of these in a night.

0.5 l bottle. Pours dark brown body with huge ocher head. Not too much aroma but nice hints of chocolate malt and some wheat. Flavor is very nice and full, not so sweet and similar to the Hefe Weizen but good on the other side. Long finish with wheat felt. Medium carbonation, murky body. Interesting and very good beer.

Notes: On draft at The Esplanade Bier Markt in Toronto. Dark brown/black with red-yellow highlights and a enormous fluffy off-white head. More subtle cocoa aroma, with hints of herbs. Roasty coffee and chocolate all throughout. Solid flavor, and very tasty. Smooth, creamy, and slick on the mouth and tongue. Way too drinkable (even in a 24oz glass). I’ve had this out of the bottle before, but this was spectacular on draft.
