Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Notes: On draft at The Esplanade Bier Markt in Toronto. Dark brown/black with red-yellow highlights and a enormous fluffy off-white head. More subtle cocoa aroma, with hints of herbs. Roasty coffee and chocolate all throughout. Solid flavor, and very tasty. Smooth, creamy, and slick on the mouth and tongue. Way too drinkable (even in a 24oz glass). I’ve had this out of the bottle before, but this was spectacular on draft.

Bottle. Very dark in color with a good, fluffy off-white head. Good lacing on glass. Aroma of dark malted wheat along with the banana and clove. Very good flavor of dark wheat and banana. Very tasty dunkel weiss.

Bottle. black colour with large frothy off-white mostly diminishing head. Faint malty aroma. Sweet flavor. Oily palate. Very refreshing.

Bottle. Pours very nice, dark but not heavy, nice head. Aroma faint but not unpleasant. Flavor - very little. I’ve had sparkling waters with more going on. Like a watered-down brown ale, lacking any complexity whatsoever.

Like the Weizen of the same brewery, that’s been high-hjacked by sweet and malty goodness. Not a great scent, just like a regular Weiss beer with a slight malty twist. Thick, lacing head. Nut brown, caramel, chocolate taste, it’s got the best of both worlds, Weizen and Nut Brown, together at last.

This beer sports a huge off white head. Rather dark brown body. Fruity aroma. Taste has some roasty flavors along with the standard weizen flavors like banana and spice. Sort of malty actually as well. A little too much carbonation for my liking.

Bottle. Near black with a big beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and bitter chocolate. A smooth, almost oily mouthfeel, with more roasted flavours. Very enjoyable.
