Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Very big tan head, cloudy dark brown colour. The aroma is very clean, malts and hops and roasted malts too. Flavour is roasted a bit acidic and hoppier than most german weisses. Mouthfeel is crisp with medium bubbles. To me this was a very good weissbier, not exceptional like weihenstephaner, but still very good.

I think i drink it, but it has brown label. (The shop where i bought this also selling the black-label one.) It is very sensitive to pouring down, so if you don"t pay attention, a huge foam will be in your glass. A beige head that is creamy awhile, then it change to fizzy. It has an intensive aroma with yeast and some citrus and alcohol. Then the alcohol in the flavour is diminishing yet and light bitterness take over. With smooth carbonation it is very drinkable, because the muddy brown body is not so full that would be expected from a german dunkel. Strange, but the "wheatiness" of this beer come forward only 10 minutes after (not years).

Bottled from Aachen. Perfect looks, Very dark, hazy, with thick foamy head and voluptuous lacing. Very nicely composed beer merging the Dunkels and Weizens. mix of sweet and sour with soft bitterness. Nice!

Dark fruit and cola spices. Dark brown with orange hues, big tan fluffy head. Clovey syrup with mild perpper, moderate and appropriate bitter balance. Big carbonation, medium body, mild spicy finish. Pretty solid beer, very restrained flavors, but it all works.

50cl bottle. Pours a dark-brown colour with big fizzy off-white head. Medium lacing and average lasting foam. Aroma is malty, with some hops and candies too. Flavor is spicy with roasted and sweetness. Medium bodied and medium carbonation.

Bottle. Muddy brown in colour, big head with brownish tinge. Caramel/toasty malt aroma with some spice and bubblegum. Tastes malty, slightly bready, spicy and some hints of banana. An enjoyable beer.
