Jun 24, 2007 500 ml bottle. Just had a Fransiskaner Dunkel last weekend and was hoping for the same tasty experience. Not quite. Started out a little bitter, and then all the carbonation died on me, leaving a watery sweet "Coke"-like liquid for the last 1/2 of the beer. Didn’t have much of a "weiss" or "dark" character to it.

Jun 23, 2007 Bottled. Poured dark brown, with a beige head. Nose is sour and yeasty. Malty flavor, with a sift-bodied, fizzy mouthfeel. Refreshing.

1/2 liter bottle
Moderate pour in a Weizen glass.
Best before 10/07, dinged 06/07.
Poured a clear ruddy brown with lots of bubbles and a medium fizzy somewhat diminishing light brown head.
Smelt of moderate spices, toasted malt, light molasses.
Taste was upfront moderate sweet and bitter toasted grain and molasses followed by more of the same, except more pronounced on the bitter end. Short to medium length finish.
Palate was light to medium bodied, fizzy,slightly dry and lightly astringent.
Overall, its good a good dark wheat flavor which is one of my favorite grain flavors, but nothing extraordinary. Overly carbonated and generally light flavors make this a good session beer, but nothing to marvel about.

Jun 19, 2007 Roasted aroma, liquorice also. Very dark brown in appearance, almost black with a decent white head. Weak in flavour. Slight roasted texture.

Jun 18, 2007 Draft at BeerBistro. Dark brown body with a big creamy beige head and solid lacing. Mild malt aroma, with notes of light toasty caramel. Similar flavour of sweet caramel malt with dry toasty finish and aftertaste. (6+). More dunkel than weiss. Average palate. Pleasant but less Aventinus like than I had hoped.

Jun 8, 2007 Bottle. Pour is brown red with a decent sized khaki head. Aroma is wheat, banana and clove. Taste is wheat, banana, clove and a hint of roasted malts. Bigger body, yet still very refreshing.
