ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Feb 18, 2007 Bottle poured a cloudy dark brown with a large lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of dark fruit, brown sugar, bananas and a hint of clove. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of sweet malt, brown sugar and a hint of spice with a crisp clean finish. cab (861), Denmark Feb 10, 2007 Bottle.50cl. Good dunkel weissbier, but not the best, a bit too dry and the body is not that full, it needs a bit of sweetness to be just that. bgiamatei (225), São Paulo, Brazil Feb 9, 2007 Updated: Mar 5, 2007Boa cerveja de trigo escura. Coloração vinho bem escuro. Espuma presente, densa e caramelada. Hazy dark brown with a big mostly lasting light brownish head. Aroma of malt and some wheat, slightly smoky. Flavour of roasted malt, caramel, wheaty and yeasty, bitter hops. Malty bit sweet finish with a slight coffee touch. A good but bit too sweet Dunkelweizen. jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Feb 4, 2007 Pours brown with large, foamy tan head. Nose is toasted malt, wheat, molasses. The flavor is rather musty, spicy with almost a peppery note, overlying banana, and chocolate. Rather sweet. Finish is somehow tongue coating. Not bad stuff. dj (418), Gloucestershire, England Feb 3, 2007 Bottle, 500ml. A dark brown colour with a large foaming head. Aromas of wheat and malt. Taste is quite malty, with some wheat, chocolate and plum noticeable. High carbonation. A sweet, slightly bitter finish with citrus. Fairly tasty. Looks great with its sehr dunkel colour, but is a big let down. Very bland in taste. I much prefer the Hefeweizen version. This one really is nicht besonder gut, I’m afraid! Slacks (480), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Jan 18, 2007 500ml Bottle: Been looking forward to this one, courtesy of an LCBO gift pack, and served in an Erdinger glass. Tremendous aroma rich with anise, coriander, pomegranate, roasted malts, and burnt sugar. Poured deep black with red edges, decent sized head. The flavour, unfortunately, disappoints by being heavily muted with a light mouthfeel. You can dig and find some black cherry, roasted malt, and black licorice but it’s way too far in the background.
