Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Poured a deep dark brown with long lasting tan head. Light on aroma, and light on flavor. No hint of fruit only slight hops and malt. If you are looking for a really good Dunkelweizen, there are others out there.

Pours with a big foamy tan head, that leaves lacing further down the glass, dark murky brown colour...has slight cocoa, cloves, coffee malt smell..this is a great food pairing beer, i usually don’t pair beers with food but this was intensified with it...nice!

Drank in the Erdinger Super glass. Very reddisj dark body. Aromas of caramel, pepper and alcohol. Body is basically this same as the Hefe-Weizen. Very caramel based flavors, butter. Very well balanced....

Poured a deep brown with a big foamy white head. Smelled like walnuts oddly enough and like a seedy bread. Tastes like bread and a hint of apple. Thin and watery flavor. The only dig on this beer is a overly smokey, fishy finish to the flavor. I don’t drink alot of Germans, so this was a nice change, but I wasn’t impressed.

500ml bottle - pours very dark with red highlights, just like most beers that pour dark. The aroma is full of bready fruitiness that promises good things, but the flavour just doesn’t deliver. It’s much thinner than I was expecting and somewhat bland. Just not enough flavour in there. I’m not crazy about their Hefeweizen, and this doesn’t really do much for me either, for the same reasons.

500 ml bottle from LCBO gift pack. Dark brown with red reflects and a thick beige head. Aroma is very strong, some green fruits, bread and malt. Taste is similar, very clean, body is a little watery. Not bad, but nothing very special.

500 mL bottle from LCBO gift pack. Dark brown - almost opaque. Beige head starts large and grows from there. (It did go down eventually). Aroma is sharp - bruised apples, with a bit of spice and malt in behind. Original taste. For some reason, I’m getting green apples more than bananas. Don’t notice much spice until the end, when I got a sort of sweet/spicy thing. Very little bitterness. Good, not great.
