Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Massively rocky caramel head. Smooth, silky and ever so slightly dull. Faint hints of licorice and malt loaf, but disappointingly watery for a Dunkel.

The truth be told, if this was the first Erdinger beer I had ever drank, this beer would get a higher rating. This beer has a nice dark color and hints of coffee and caramel in the smell. The taste is VERY smooth and although the finish is a little weak, it is certainly easy-drinking. A really nice beer. The problem is that this beer tastes like all the other Erdingers and therefore is anything but unique. I don’t know how the Erdinger folks do it, but everyone of their beers tastes the same. It is nice, just boring and unmemoriable.

500 ml bottle. Very dark beer, nearly black, with some brown reflection. The beige head is very big and persistent. Good fruity aroma and flavour, some wheat notes and caramel. Very sweet. medium body, average carbonation for a weiisbier. A quite good stuff, surely better than the regular version and the kristallklar version.

Poured a deep dark brown with long lasting tan head. Light on aroma, and light on flavor. No hint of fruit only slight hops and malt. If you are looking for a really good Dunkelweizen, there are others out there.

Pours with a big foamy tan head, that leaves lacing further down the glass, dark murky brown colour...has slight cocoa, cloves, coffee malt smell..this is a great food pairing beer, i usually don’t pair beers with food but this was intensified with it...nice!

Drank in the Erdinger Super glass. Very reddisj dark body. Aromas of caramel, pepper and alcohol. Body is basically this same as the Hefe-Weizen. Very caramel based flavors, butter. Very well balanced....

Poured a deep brown with a big foamy white head. Smelled like walnuts oddly enough and like a seedy bread. Tastes like bread and a hint of apple. Thin and watery flavor. The only dig on this beer is a overly smokey, fishy finish to the flavor. I don’t drink alot of Germans, so this was a nice change, but I wasn’t impressed.
