Deep brown - near black - in colour, long lasting tan coloured head, awesome lace. The aroma was quite malty, earthy, some chocolate, roasty. The flavour was creamy, some earth, toffee, light bananas, light roast. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, light body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a bit of fruit, smooth, lingering. Rune (2757), Tromsø, Norway Jul 3, 2006 500ml bottle served in a long tall World Cup glass at Blå Rock Cafe in Tromsø while watching Start vs TIL. Very nice appearance. Hazy dark brown. Sweet malts in a rather hard-to-pick-aroma. Flavour of dark fruit with light notes of yeast. Medium palate, but far from powerful. HumuloneRed (750), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 2, 2006 16.9 oz. Bottle. Pours a dark red color with a good head and lacing. It has a kind of a weird sour nose. The flavor is smooth and bready with no banana or clove and slightly roasted. Smooth and clean finish. Not what I expected. scotty (828), Scotland Jun 21, 2006 A reasonably good Dunkel, I was a tad disappointed in the head which initially lasted well, but after my first mouthful fizzled away to nowt but a single-bubble thick covering, nice dark colour tho’ Slightly spicy palate with more than a hint of clean acidity on the finish, a refreshing beer. I’m not a great fan of the standard Erdinger, which I find a bit bland, and although I found this to be a bit better, you can get MUCH better for around the same amount of cash...this was from Asda,Carlisle and was about £1.70-80. crazyvin (1246), New York, USA Jun 21, 2006 poured a deep brown hue with a thick white head which had great retention/lacing. Aroma was a mix of yeast malts and sweet malts mixed with a slight hop presence. Flavor was mildly sweet with a good mix of doughy malts and some bittering hops. Really smooth yet heavy on the palate. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Jun 10, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown beer with a cocoa head. Caramel and yeasty aroma.
