Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Pours dark with a huge creamy head and has that unmistakable banana/clovey aroma, but it fails to deliver in the flavour i was expecting more.

500 ml bottle. Deep dark brown colour, very hapy with a thick off-white head. Very fine and persistent head. Sweet toasted nut aroma. Nice rich caramel and dark chocolatey notes as well. Evidence of decoctions in the nose. Light bubble gum and apricot. A bit cardboardy flavour though. Yeast is quite muted and subtle, with little evidence of banana or clove. Soft texture. Very wheaty and bready. Okay, but not great.

Thick beige head on a very dark body. Had it with strong, pungent food and it fit perfectly. Otherwise, nothing exceptional apart from the usual caramel, a bit sweet.

Bottle from Asda, weizen glass.. I’m pretty sure I’ve had this before but never got round to rating it. Pours a murky brown. Bland aroma, a bit of toffee and not much else. Flavour is mostly sweet with a bit of sweet malt, caramel and ends up tasting rather watery and muddled. Pretty boring.

Dark brown color with thick creamy head. Had a sweet aroma with hints of caramel and chocolate. Had a nice nutty sweet finish to it. Pretty damn good.

Dark dark brown, cloudy. Tan head. .. .. Not much aroma. Bready, Roasty. .. .. . Roasty malty. Very little yeast notes. .. … Med body, a bit sticky. .. .. A bit disappointing. Malty aromas, but boring flavor. A bit of roastiness, but no yeastiness whatsoever
