Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Grain and mild-coffee aroma with soft alcohol hints. Its appereance is its best quality, it has a creamy light brown head, long lasting and that leaves an excellent lacing. It has a murky mahogany color that is redder at the bottom though its body is lighter than it looks. It has a lightly acidic and salty flavor that ends bitterly though not very longly. Its carbonation is soft and its overall texture is watery.

Very heady pour, lots and lots of foam. Black pour with that foamy head with a nice tanish colour. Syntetic scent, plastic like. Grainy. Much better tasting then the scent thankfully. Still not very impressed. Sweet and malty and odd combination. I’m not sure if it’s just because the other 3 beers I had before this were really good beers, or a fault in this beer, but I’m not really enjoying this.

I found this one profoundly blah. I’m not sure what the problem was because in my glass it looked incredible. I could barely notice any sort of armoa, but what I did whiff was malt and some chocolate. Taste was flat in my mouth, with very little action. I felt this one was a "purgatory" brew meaning it fell somewhere between a dark and a wheat but had neither of the sharp characteristics that you’d expect from those types. I was really unimpressed with this, and probably will not try again. Too bad, because this one looked like a great one. Guess we can all get fooled now and then.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a huge light brown head that diminished slowly and produced excellent lacing. Good malty and fruit aroma. Medium body with a thin texture. Good malty and banana flavor with an average finish. Soft drinkable brew.

A caramel tasting, tiny headed dark brown but not black at all beer, wheaty and dark at the same time, (I guess that’s why it’s classified as a dunkelweizen), very little head for a wheat beer, overall mediocre but drinkable.

The aroma is soft and sour. There is a little bit of caramel and lots of malt. The appearance is dark brown with a large head. The flavor is bread like and has sour and bitter notes but nothing about the flavor is strong. For that matter the palate is the opposite of strong it’s weak. But, overall it does not suffer too much. It could have been better but it’s easy to drink.

Bottle. White head. Dark red brown body. Aroma of roasted malt. More spicy than actually sweet flavor maybe because of relatively much carbon dioxide.

Nice creamy, hazy, dark brown color with a beautiful head. Unfortunatly, the aroma and flavors aren’t nearly as impressive as the way it looks in the glass. Some dark chocolate and light banana with a hint of spice is struggling to poke through. Nice and drinkable, but not one to specifically seek out. Had on tap in Frankfurt.
