stouby (1931), Holbaek, Denmark Dec 21, 2005 Bottle, at home (030729).
Dark brown with a nice brown, large head. Aroma moderate malty, light hoppy (chocolate, licorice, roasted/burnt). Flavor moderate sweet, light to moderate bitter. Light to medium body, smooth. Panzerfaust (393), Santiago, Chile Dec 20, 2005 Beautiful black bier with a fast-dissapearing light grey head. Aroma is malty, grainy with mild hoppy notes. Flavor is soft as the Hefe-Weizen. Lightly sweet, almost no bitter. A bit like a Sweet Stout but much softer. Lively carbonation. Medium bodied. A generic wheat bear, just pretty. ChrisG (31), Secunda, South Africa Dec 19, 2005 The best Erdinger. A dark brownish beer with a satisfying taste as well as aftertaste. Does not have a distinct aroma. Drink this one slowly to appreciate it. Bilzmoude (19), Ferndale, Michigan, USA Dec 15, 2005 Very malty. Very light aroma. Beautiful, cloudy, dark amber color. Head deminishes quickly. Tiny bubbles. A bit of a lager aftertaste Not as full flavored as I exptected. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA Dec 12, 2005 dark brown color with a deep tan colored head. aroma is of burnt toast and gravey. I got some jerkey like malt thing goin on in the body. daboskabouter (1470), Fergus, Ontario, Canada Dec 3, 2005 Dark brown clouded liquid. The nose is fruity with hints of tobacco, chocolate and molasses. The body is solid with a malty front - hints of molasses and brown sugar. It quickly thins and fades. Just a touch sweet, but not a bad dunkelweizen. yalnikim (776), Wellington, New Zealand Dec 2, 2005 Tasted 13/11/2005. 500ml bottle from Regional Wines.
A deep brown, almost black, with a big, airy, tan head that disappears rather quickly. A fizzy number. Nose is banana and rich chocolate, while flavour is the same with hints of toast and weet-bix. Cinnamon and apple come through also. It’s lightweight and fizzy in the mouth, which doesn’t appeal at all. Rather disappointing, for such a famous beer. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada Nov 28, 2005 Pours deep brown with some reddy hues. Head is medium sized big bubbly foam lasting to create a little lacing. Nose is lightly toasted with yeast, wheat and a whiff of cocoa. Flavour is dull and the mouthfeel isn’t ample enough. Toasty, some peat and chocolate. Hops are lazy. Far better than the regular hefe-weiss, but nothing to either sneer or exhalt.
