Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

bottle. Poured dark brown with tight bubbled tan head. Aroma is roasty with raison. Highly carbonated thin mouthfeel. Sweet caramel with a bitter chocolate hint and a slight smoke finish. Not overly bitter.

Lovely deep brown, large beige head. Not much aroma. Soft carbonation, sweet smooth palate, but heading towards sticky. Taste has pleasant burnt roastiness, with some toffee and a few fruity retronasals. Finish is very pleasantly hopped though. Needs more body, perhaps, or slightly higher attenuation to dry and crispen the palate more. Do not drink too cold, the good stuff comes out as it warms.

Dark pour, minimal head that dissipated quickly. Aromas of well not much i guess roasted wheat. Lots of carbonation and not much flavor. Not a big fan of this dunkel.

Strawberry jam smell with a yeasty cola taste. Not so great but the alcohol is well hidden and I was a bit shocked to read the label and discover the 7.2% abv. Not a highly memorable drinking experience, this one.

500ml bottle. Dark brown pour with thick, foamy cola head. nose is sweet, dark malts. Complex sweet, rusty-metallic taste which reminds me of some weak attempts at imp stouts. slightly sticky and syrupy, very robust.

500ml bottle. Murky dark brown with a tight tan head. Wheaty nose, mildly malty and a bit roasty, sweet banana. Lightly roasty flavor, seems just a tad thin in the body. Carob and banana notes, light esters. Seems maltier than most. Nice.
