Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Nice cloudy brown. Strong nose full of wheat, malt and yeast. The taste expands on this to include spice, possibly clove, and citrus fruit. Smooth finishes leaves some sweetness on the tongue.

Bottle. Ruby red black beer with strong head. The aroma is lightly yeasty and the flavour is lightly yeasty, malty and dry. Overall an average yeasty beer.

Opens with a thick malty aroma with a bit of yeast undertones. Has a dark brown earthy appearance with a tight eggshell white head - very little lacing. Flavor is similar to the aroma - malty and yeast - but a bit of chocolate sweetens the finish. Overall a decent dunkel - not sure why it is classified as a wheat.

Dark brown with a large off-white head. Yeasty and leathery malt aroma. A bit of sweet, dark chocolate in the taste; also a curious but not unpleasant seaside saltiness. A medium bitter close. Quite liked this.

Sweet bubble gum and tart aroma. Almost black colored with nice brown foam. Little bit of bland start, turns out to have nicely hopped and carbonated crispy ending. Some chocolate in aftertaste too. Based on aroma and appearance I expected this to be more bodied, that was little disappointment, still very nicely hopped and refreshing dunkelweizen.

Cloudy brown color, lasting head. Aroma of malts and coffee. Bit watery taste, just as the hefeweizen. OK, but a little more complex taste would be nice.

Bottle from Crown. Dark brown pour, nice fluffy head. Aroma is full of wheat, yeast, dried fruit and maybe some really dark caramel notes. Flavor is yeasty, fruity, a hint of spice, and has a great mouthfeel.
