Aroma is a disappointment, very weak with some faint roasted malt notes, spices and dried fruits. Medium bodied, good carbonation. Dry finish. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 14, 2009 50cl bottle. Dark. Appearance of cola. Medium brown color, thin light tan head. nice cascading bubbles rising to the surface. Aroma of caramelized malt extract. Nice toast with some banana esters. The flavor of the beer seems to have all of the spice (clove) up front. Then the malt character in the finish. Dark toasted malt flavor of caramelized malt extract. Texture is lacking, feels a bit too carbonated. Finishes with a nice roasted malt character as the beer warms. Not a bad beer, I’m guessing it may have been an older bottle.

Pours a hazy brown color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is nondescript and malty with very faint banana bread. Taste is toffeeish malts, banana, bread, slight spice. Medium bodied. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 2, 2003 This was dark brown with a generous tan head; some lacing. Very smooth, but thin - not overly carbonated. Lots of chocolate and caramel sweetness - but in a thin way - similar to a chocolate phosphate gone flat (if ya know what i mean). I enjoyed this. eaglefan538 (2397), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2006 Ok, the standard Erdinger Weiss wasn’t impressive. However, this one didn’t disappoint and may be my favorite dunkel weizen. Poured a flat dark brown color with a huge head that provided the best possible lacing. Aroma had bananas and light spicing detectable. The flavor followed, but was slightly roasted and caramel-like (much less so than other dunkel weizens, and certainly not as "dry"). This had a sweetness that exceed that of other dunkels I’ve had. Mouthfeel was moderate and this one was pretty drinkable for a weizen. Somewhat dry finish. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 1, 2003 Cloudy dark reddish-brown body topped by a thick fizzy quickly disappearing head without much lace. Sweet and slightly lemony malty aroma with spicy notes. Hard to distinguish flavor. It's slightly malty and grainy with a clean finish. Not very complex, but refreshing to drink. medium bodied, a touch oily with a slight tiingle from the carbonation. aracauna (2391), Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 11, 2002 Better head than on the weissbeer. Darker than I was expecting despite the dunkel name. Same well balanced, mild aroma and flavor with the addition of a hint of chocolate in the aroma and flavor. The clove and esters weren’t as much of the profile here, though.
