Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

This is a very drinkable dunkel. It's slightly sour, but very nice to drink

Bottle; pours a dirty, reddish brown color with a medium to large tan head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, dark fruit and a light hint of vanilla and cocoa. Flavor was a lot dryer than expected; not hugely dry, just surprising. Wheat and dark fruit predominate. Some caramel and cocoa tones. A good amount of carbonation in the palate, almost became a turn off. That being said, it was extremely easy to drink. All around solid beer.

I do not like to rate a Weizen like this, but this was very flavorless, maybe I ate soemthing before that interfiered with the degustation. BUt could be better.

Nice large head. As a nice aroma and a palate of caramel. Smooth and easy drinkable like the other beers in the Erdinger assortment. The wheat is’nt that obvious.

Bottle. Murky chestnut brown color with thick head. Aromas of raisins, dark fruits, pepper, bread and some sweetness. Heavily carbonated, lightly astringent palate. Bready flavor with raisins, plums and vinous fruits. Dark fruits and peppery spiciness in the finish. A bit unpleasant dark malt character.

Bottle. Dark brown in color with a creamy tan head. A cinammon and ginger spice aroma. A smooth malty body and flavor.

Pours out a murky brown, nearly maroon, with reddish tinges, and features an impressively large, flourishing head of frothy off-white foam. Aroma: disappointing, suggesting nothing at all, spare, blank, giving off a hint of spiciness, a touch of fruit, but nothing major. Very smooth, very easy, very minimal texture, just enough to qualify as a weizen, but with very little complexity and scant flavor. I run out of things to say about this beer, for it gives little else of itself to be examined. Some chocolate comes forth later on, much appreciated, but too little, too late? Not bad, just not much.

Dark brown body with a large lasting tan head. Aroma of malt and chewing gum. Malty caramel taste with some slight banana and a chalky feel.
