Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

08.16.05 500ml bottle dated 07-2005. Dark fudgie brown, clouded, under pillowy mound of tan foam. Aroma is dark pretzels, salted, with plum sauce and old leaves. There’s a subtle underlying spice that coats the air, but only in a way reminiscent of a kitchen the evening after baking. Flavors are bready, too, with a toasted crust flavor and mild salt. Underpinnings of banana, cocoa, and wine cork are nice touches. The finish is all mineral with some mint and chalk. Quite dry.

Malty mildly sweet aroma. Dark brown with a good sized fluffy head. Sweet and watery and suprinsingly un-wheat beer like. Tastes a little like a watery bock. Noclove or bannana flavors.

Bottled. Huge foam head on a brown body dark enough to resemble black. Have to hand it to the brewer, Erdinger products always look good. Malty sweet aroma with light wheat and banana. Yeasty. Smooth palate, very creamy, dark and mildly sweet with a far lower degree of fruity esters than expected. Caramel. A little watery.

bottle. LCBO gift pack. pours a cloudy brown-mahogany body with a gigantic frothy tan head. aroma has faint smoke, dark fruit, chocolate, and is heavily yeasty. the body is earthy and woody with soft carbonation. flavour is fairly clean and mild - there is some chocolate in there as well as toast. not a whole lot of depth and complexity. decent.

Bottle. Beige fingerthick head over a clear dark brown body. Mild aromas of dark malt and caramel with notes of dried dark fruits. Weak flavors; moderately sweet with caramel, wheat and a little roastiness. Also some slight fruity/acidic notes. Surprisingly thin and watery palate. A bit disappointing...
