Mild aromas of dark malt and caramel with notes of dried dark fruits. Weak flavors; moderately sweet with caramel, wheat and a little roastiness. Also some slight fruity/acidic notes. Surprisingly thin and watery palate. A bit disappointing... radiomgb (2070), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 7, 2006 Bottle in the Erdinger Christmas gift pack from the <a href=http://www.lcbo.com target=blank>LCBO in Peterborough. Deep brown - near black - in colour, long lasting tan coloured head, awesome lace. The aroma was quite malty, earthy, some chocolate, roasty. The flavour was creamy, some earth, toffee, light bananas, light roast. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, light body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a bit of fruit, smooth, lingering. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 24, 2007 bottle - Pours dark brown with a substantial head. The aroma is wheat and bananas. The malt rich flavor has banana notes and seems a little light/bland for the style. Medium bodied and lively on the palate, it finishes mildly sweet. cheapdark (2048), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Updated: Jul 11, 2008Very neat aroma of bread fresh baked, cooled then busted open. Initial flavor is very smooth, one of the most enjoyable beers I have tasted. Very tasty with no bitter hops. No offensive finish what so ever. Much better than any of the highly touted bitter beers I see on this website. I’ll never taste another imperial stout or IPA again. Thanks erdinger. Note: My bottle did not say ’dunkle’ on it, it said ’hefe-weizen dark’ 5.5% but everybody assures me this is the same beer. SHIG (2046), Aviano, Italy

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2004 Weizens are a style of beer that looses flavor quickly after production. Mine had hints of what it might have been fresh. The maltiness and creamy body come through with just the right sweetness to let you know there was a real good weizen in this bottle just a little while ago. Worth a re-rate if I can find it fresh.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 26, 2005 Being the wheat beer fan that I am I had to try this one, especially as I had liked their regular Hefe rather well. Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy dark brown color with a large tan head. The aroma was sour malt and light citrus. The flavor was sour, tangy and had a bit of wheat and citrus in it. There was an underlying nut element as well. The middle was surprisingly sweet and thick. A nice beer, and one that I will have to try again. Indra (2036), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 26, 2003 Malty and faintly musty aroma, with some faint toffee and doughy yeast. Dark, opaque brownish-amber appearance, with creamy and lasting off-white foam atop. Lightly sweet profile, some caramel, toffee and bready malt combined with lightly slicy, herbal hop flavors but low overall bitterness. Low-moderate acidity. Light-medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Good drinkability.
