Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Dark with a tan head. Nice banana like smell. Smells good. Goes down very smooth. Aroma also has caramel tones.

Pours a somewhat cloudy brown color with a lot of head. The aroma is fairly complex, the flavor isn’t. It’s still pretty smooth. Easy to drink, but nothing very interesting here. Worth a try I guess...

Deep ruby brown with a frothy tan head. Dry dark malt, mild cocoa, and tropical fruit aromas. Light/medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Nice yeasty flavor with tart wheat, light roasty nuts, with mild cocoa. Easy drinking, not too bad.

Chocolatey and dark malt aroma. Apperance is black with a fairly large head. Flavor is velvety with some chocolate, caramel, and grapes showing up for the Dunkel party. The aftertaste is slightly sweet. A pretty good beer.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines and Spirits, Birmingham. Looks superb - dark, leathery, with a thick beige head, which is good and tall. Mmm smells good too; chocolate and wine aroma - sweet and tart. Very tasty, but mixed up beer. Loses balance and cohesion: the sweetness, coffee and wheat don't completely hang together - each is pleasant and adds up to a good experience, but this is not perfect. Dryness in the medium length finish. A good Dunkel weizen, but varied.

500ml bottle. Murky dark brown with a tight tan head. Wheaty nose, mildly malty and a bit roasty, sweet banana. Lightly roasty flavor, seems just a tad thin in the body. Carob and banana notes, light esters. Seems maltier than most. Nice.
