Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Roasted malt in the aroma. Fruity taste (mango, banana), yeasty and just a hint of roasted malt. Relatively thin.

A Mes rate: Black and opaque with a large tan head that lasts well. Great looks all round. Standard mouthfeel, a little too much carb me-thinks. Heavy malt and yeasty flavour, not as creamy as it looks but ok. Much better than the white and I would have it again.

Good round taste that stays with a long aftertaste. Sweet and soft as most wheat beers, but with a harder edge og roasted and chocolate barley.

(Bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a medium-sized beige head. Aroma of sweet malt, toffee, and some fruit. Falvor of dark malts and some dark fruitiness with a dry, somewhat bitter finish.

Bottle. Labeled best before the end of 10-2007. Poured a dark brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, bananas, and I’m getting some dark fruits. Tastes of chocolate, roast, bananas, and a trace of caramel. Lively body.

500ml bottle -pours a big foamy to rocky light tan head and brown color. Aroma is medium malt-caramel, dark fruit, secondary hops, cardboard (maybe helps explain the big head). Taste is medium malt-caramel, dark fruit, light faint hops, cardboard, slight spice, some yeast-banana. Light side of medium body. Mild carbonation.

Dark brown, nice sticky off-white head, initially large, but quickly fading. Big roasted banana nose with mild earth component. Strikingly roasty taste with a sweet candyish earthy aftertaste. Highly carbonated and very foamy mouthfeel is pleasant.
